CBBEL completed Phase I engineering and environmental studies to address the existing geometric deficiencies that resulted in poor mobility and operations at this interchange. The Village received federal funds for this study which is currently being coordinated closely with IDOT. Context Sensitive Solution principles were a key component of the project development process. A Project Advisory Group was established that included broad representation from project stakeholders and 16 initial interchange alternatives were narrowed to the two finalist alternatives presented at a Public Meeting. One of the two finalist alternatives included potential roundabout intersections at the interchange ramp terminals on IL Route 176. CBBEL performed all preliminary design work, facilitated a comprehensive stakeholder involvement program, prepared an Environmental Assessment, a Location Drainage Study, and Combined Design Report for IDOT approval.
