CBBEL provided Phase I, II and II engineering for this 2021 APWA Chicago Metro Chapter SW Branch Project of the Year. The project included roadway widening, culvert extensions, streambank stabilization and construction of a new pedestrian bridge over Hammel Creek. CBBEL’s Drainage Department completed the IDOT Phase I Location Drainage Study and Hydraulic Report for Hammel Creek, demonstrating that the widened roadway is still protected from flooding. Phase II services included preparation of drainage plans, specs and estimates, as well as stormwater permitting under Will County’s Stormwater Management Ordinance as amended by the Village of Shorewood. Floodway construction permitting was processed through IDNR-OWR as part of a larger CBBEL watershed study.
