Project Overview

Implementing major park amenity upgrades and full athletic field reconstruction across 15 acres

  • Pedestrian Improvements
  • Storm Sewer Improvements
  • ADA Improvements
  • Utility Improvements

CBBEL led the civil site engineering for the complete renovation of Presidential Park in the Village of Algonquin, supporting major park amenity upgrades and full athletic field reconstruction across the 15-acre site. CBBEL designed new sanitary and water service connections to serve the new restroom building and concession stand, and provided grading and site design to accommodate replacement and realignment of three baseball fields and two soccer fields.

As part of the site regrading, CBBEL designed new sidewalks and plaza areas to meet ADA requirements, including accessible routes and seating areas at each baseball field. CBBEL also completed extensive stormwater analysis for the expanded disturbed and impervious areas and designed three dry-bottom detention basins with a storm sewer conveyance network and outlet control structures to comply with the Kane County Stormwater Management Ordinance detention volume and release rate criteria.

The detention basins were stabilized with native seeding and wetland plugs to enhance infiltration, filter pollutants, and support local biodiversity, with these ecological benefits communicated to park users through educational signage.
