Lincoln Park North Pond Restoration

Project Overview

Designing the restoration of North Pond in historic Lincoln Park, including dredging, shoreline restoration and habitat revival

  • Dredging
  • Park Improvements
  • Shoreline Restoration
  • Storm Sewer Installation

CBBEL worked alongside the Lincoln Park Conservancy and Chicago Park District to design the North Pond Rehabilitation project, including dredging the pond, restoring the eroded shoreline and adding sustainable features to combat water loss.

Deepening the pond by dredging it created a healthier habitat for the native animals and plants, and a natural polymer liner helps alleviate water-loss issues. Further, a new storm sewer was installed to resupply the pond with water, decreasing the amount of water being pumped into the pond by the City.

The project also included many park improvements including new benches, paths and lighting to upgrade the visitor experience.
