  • Roadway Lighting
  • Traffic Operations

CBBEL supported improvements at the Clark/Devon intersection to enhance bus operations and improve pedestrian and vehicle circulation in a heavily traveled area. The project also added new and upgraded public open space, creating a more welcoming, safer environment for people walking, biking, riding transit, and driving through the area.

The improvements included new decorative lighting, ADA enhancements, driveway and bus stop upgrades, and buffered bike lane connections south of Devon. Other improvements included plaza replacement and streetscape enhancements designed to strengthen the character and usability of the surrounding open spaces.

Thorough coordination throughout planning and construction helped deliver: 5,000 lane feet of roadway improvements with new medians; 25,000 SF of plaza replacement; 5,000 SF of reclaimed pedestrian corridor/plaza area from a side street; 14,000 SF of bus terminal lot refurbishment; 7,000 SF of park restoration; 16,000 SF of parking lot reconfiguration; and modernization of IDOT signal infrastructure, including one signal upgrade and one signal replacement as part of the intersection reconfiguration.
