The City of Chicago is improving a mile of 47th Street, 0.9 miles of Ashland Avenue and the related 21 side streets to alleys. This significant project will see corridor-wide enhancements, including widened sidewalks, alley and driveway replacement, traffic signal improvements and upgraded furnishings, like planter pots, new trees, bike racks and trash cans. The corridor will also include gathering spaces that provide aesthetic improvements and add to the overall enhancement of the corridor.
CBBEL’s survey team is responsible for a topographic survey that covers the project limits. Within these limits the team locates all sidewalks, pavements, pavement markings, driveways, curb and gutters, signs, manholes, utility vaults, drainage structures, building over hangs, trees, bus stops and other critical items.
