The CBBEL team is completing Phase I and Phase II Engineering for improvements at the Randall Road/Hopps Road intersection in Kane County. The aims of the project are to provide route continuity and capacity improvements along Randall Road, based on projected growth in traffic volumes for the year 2050; improve safety at the intersection of Randall and Hopps; and reduce congestion and optimize safety at the Canadian National Railroad crossing.
Phase I Engineering included evaluation of multiple alternatives within the corridor, including various intersection improvements and grade separation options. As part of the improvement, the project includes addition of a third lane in each direction along Randall Road, with a new enclosed drainage system. Additionally, a multi-use path will be constructed on the west side of Randall Road, closing an existing gap.
