Village of Orland Park
The Village of Orland Park is taking part in a multi-jurisdictional effort to improve the 143rd Street corridor by widening it to five lanes from I-355 to Cicero Avenue, a distance of 15.1 miles. The proposed improvements will provide much-needed congestion relief and multi-modal accommodations.
CBBEL completed Phase I Engineering on behalf of the Village to reconstruct and widen the existing two-lane section of 143rd Street from Wolf Road to Southwest Highway, a distance of 1.7 miles. The goal is to provide two lanes of traffic in each direction, separated by a median. As part of Phase I, the CBBEL team evaluated multiple alternatives within the corridor, including various alignments and intersection improvements to minimize impacts to adjacent residences, businesses and the Cook County Forest Preserve.
