Cedar Lake Dredging Project

Project Overview

Restoring Cedar Lake’s ecoystem by reducing decades of sediment.

  • Dredging
  • Environmental Resources
  • Lake Repopulation

The CBBEL team is working with the Town of Cedar Lake to restore the lake’s ecosystem and improve Cedar Lake’s status as a recreational attraction for residents and visitors. At 780 acres, Cedar Lake is one of the largest freshwater lakes in Indiana and an economic benefit to the region. This project includes dredging the lake to reduce decades of sediment that has created water quality and clarity issues. The dredging portion of the project will take three years and dredge at least 440,000 cubic yards of sediment from the lake. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources will then re-populate the lake with native species to aid in restoration of the lake’s ecosystem.
