The Village of Riverside has made it a priority to replace its aging water mains that are nearing the end of their useful life. While most sections of the Village’s water main are being replaced with a common open cut-and-replace-method, a more innovative approach was necessary when it came to the replacement of the three water mains that cross beneath the Des Plaines River. By using cured-in-place piping (CIPP) technology, these existing water mains would be structurally rehabilitated and the disruption to the River would be negligible. This structural pipe lining solution allows for the rehabilitation of many different pipe materials including sand cast, cast iron, ductile iron, and asbestos cement pipe.
