The existing streambank at Stoneroller Creek in Lake Carina Forest Preserve was in need of stabilization and repair after being severely eroded due to increased creek flows, debris jams, and poorly vegetated unstable soils. Several techniques were used to stabilize the approximately 1000’ of the creek, including rock vanes and riffles, stepped pools, boulder toe, selective clearing, regrading, and shoreline and bank vegetation.
