The project combined two different types of vehicle detection creating a more accurate adaptive signal control system to adjust signal timings in real-time based on the changing vehicle demand in the network. The project consisted of installing the adaptive cabinet equipment, adaptive video detection, additional detector loops, controller replacement and upgrades to NTCIP standards, Bluetooth detectors, PTZ cameras, Ethernet repeaters, relocating ITS equipment, ensuring the traditional video detection equipment and adaptive video equipment can operate simultaneously, and that intersections can communicate with the County’s Centracs Advanced Transportation Management System.
