Longtime Transportation Expert Joins CBBEL

Harmet_PeteEffective Monday, August 7th, we’re proud to welcome PETE HARMET, PE as Senior Project Manager with focuses on managing Phase I projects and business development. 

Pete spent 31 years at IDOT, where he oversaw the development of multi-billion dollar highway programs, as well as planning on the state highway system in the northeast Illinois region. He also led project management teams for many high profile, complex projects. Harmet retired from IDOT as the Bureau Chief of Programming after 11 years in that role.

Pete graduated from Bradley University in 1986 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and started at IDOT that same year. Over the next three decades, his responsibilities grew from an entry level position to managing a staff of 70 and overseeing the planning for many high profile projects, including the Elgin O’Hare – Western Access project.

Pete, a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), earned the 2013 IDOT Outstanding Service Award and the 2015 ASCE Illinois Section Government Civil Engineer of the Year Award.
